Our Chili Cook-Off combines creativity with culinary skill. The Chili Cook-off is an excellent way for participants to use their creativity and culinary skills in this Gastronomical Challenge.
Each team is challenged to: Create a recipe, Design a team logo and Market their creation. Teams will present a Chili Chant and then the taste testing begins. The teams are judged on Creativity, Presentation and Taste.
The group will be welcomed into the room with fun Latin and country western music.
The teams are able to go to the marketplace and select their ingredients. Normally the resort property will provide the perishable ingredients. The normal ingredients are: bell peppers, onions, cilantro, beans, meat, and peppers.
The teams are supplied the key ingredients needed to make an unforgettable chili. The teams create team aprons and a chili chant for this unique and tasty event, while they work together, in hopes of catching the judge’s taste buds.
The team’s table is equipped with all the necessary cookware, utensils and a stove. In the center of the room will be the “marketplace.” This is where teams will select ingredients to craft their savory southwestern dish!
Several tasks will be occurring simultaneously including prepping and cooking the chili, decorating their apron and creating a presentation and chant in a fashion showcasing the uniqueness of their team. All of these tasks will require organization and teamwork; therefore, a head chef will be designated from the start whose responsibility is to oversee these specific assignments for the rest of the team.
When the judging begins, scorecards will be utilized to award points based on creativity, presentation and taste. One team will emerge triumphant as the reigning Chili Cook-Off Champions! Judges can either be members of the participating company or event staff.
